District Update on 2010-2011 Elementary Quest Program
The elementary gifted education program (QUEST) curriculum has been revised to provide an additional focus on science, technology, engineering, mathematics, and medicine. High interest, inquiry-based science programs will be at the core of the program with mathematics, technology, and other curricular areas integrated into a year-long focused study. These changes will help prepare students for higher-level learning at the middle school and high school.
There will be a new gifted research component in grades 4-5 at all schools, in conjunction with the computer literacy teachers, which will be in addition to the 90 minute pullout. There will be flexible grouping in math in grades 3-5 in addition to the accelerated math and reading. Elementary gifted students will be provided with collaborative cross district learning opportunities through the use of distance online experiences and shared field trips.
FCAPAGE Board endorsed a letter to Dr. Stephens on elementary school gifted program concerns. Click here to read and to sign in support.
